The American Coyote

When you look at the coyote, you see an animal that has made the adaptations that humans refuse to reciprocate. As College of Idaho Students, we encounter the symbolism of the coyote daily, but fail to recognize the situation the actual species is in. Because of their advanced understanding of their surroundings, coyotes recognize patterns and change their behavior in order to avoid violent confrontations and disputes. Unfortunately, humans have not reacted in the same way, as our lack of knowledge about the species leads to acts against coyotes which only worsens the problem. It is not the coyote that needs to adapt, it is the human. We chant every weekend cheering on the 'Yotes, but perhaps we should be putting that same enthusiasm into saving the species
